  1. Explain the role of research objectives within a postgraduate thesis
  2. Distinguish between general and specific objectives
  3. Align objectives with the research question, hypothesis, and study design
  4. Write SMART research objectives for a given research topic
  5. Construct an objective–method–outcome alignment table for a thesis

  • Difference between “General objective” and “Specific objectives”
  • Aligning objectives with Research question, Hypothesis, and Study design
  • Writing SMART objectives (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound)

  • Examples of poorly written vs. well-structured objectives
